All about DC Coffee Products

DC Coffee Products was founded in October 2000 by Owner John Hupp. John began his career in the coffee business in 1997 when he accepted a position in the Managed Service Department with Bunn-O-Matic, of Springfield, IL, later moving to their Commercial Order Department.

He and wife Heather, married in August 1994, are blessed with two sons, Drake and Chandler. The business, is actually named for the boys “D” & “C”. Likewise, Chandler was a major contributing factor in establishing the business, when his aunt/day care provider, moved away. Heather who is now employed by Pro-Tech Search, and John, faced a major dilemma with the loss of their baby sitter. A customer of John’s suggested he start his own company to enable him time to watch the children, and approaching Bunn-O-Matic with the concept, they agreed to allow John a distributorship, so he could provide in home care for the boys.

John was raised in a small rural farming community is Central Illinois, graduating from Westfield High School, Westfield, IL in 1980. He went on to receive his B.A. from Blackburn College, Carlinville, IL and his A.S. from Olney Central College in Olney, IL. He received his teaching degree from Blackburn in 1989, and is certified to teach secondary level - US and World History, Jr. High - English, Social Studies, and Science, and K – 12 Physical Education. John also served with the Illinois Army National Guard, Company C, based out of Salem, IL, and was at one time very active in IHSA officiating, of basketball, baseball, and softball.

Heather is now employed by LRS as a part of the management team, and assists with the business whenever possible. The family attends services at Cherry Hills Baptist Church, in Springfield, where Heather also teaches Sunday school. John works with the youth pastor at the church taking pictures of visitors and helping out with several of the children's Sunday School classes. When not running DC Coffee, the family enjoys attending Cubs games, watching pro football, going to movies, and attending Drake’s soccer, baseball, and basketball games. John also enjoys coaching the DC Coffee Brewers Baseball Team, the traveling (now) 14 year old squad and Tae Kwon Do with his youngest son Chandler.
